The Tormek Japanese Waterstone with 4000 grit delivers a mirror finish with hardly any visible marks. The fine surface polishes the edge and creates the ultimate shiny finish. If you are looking for that razor-sharpness, this is the grinding wheel for you!
Creates a razor-sharp edge
This waterstone excels at sharpening hand tools like carving tools, knives, scissors, plane irons and wood chisels where a minimum of steel removal is needed and a superior surface finish is required.
Its unique composition gives the stone an extremely long life. Since the surface left by the Japanese Waterstone is so fine, we do not recommend honing afterwards on the leather honing wheel.
You should clean the stone surface of steel particles every minute or so with the fine side of the Stone Grader SP-650. Do not use the coarse side of the Stone Grader on the Japanese Waterstone.
Fits Tormek T-8, Tormek T-7 and previous Tormek models with a 250 mm stone diameter. For the smaller Tormek models, see Tormek Japanese Waterstone SJ-200.

Alan Holtham, English woodturner and journalist, tries the Tormek Japanese Waterstone SJ-250 for ultra-sharp edges (also available for T-4 and 1200 models as SJ-200) and the Tormek Blackstone Silicon SB-250 for faster cutting action on HSS and exotic alloys.
